The PT candidate for the government of the state of São Paulo, Fernando Haddad, received today (5) formal support from the PDT for his candidacy. The support was announced by the national president of the PDT, Carlos Lupi. At the event, held in downtown São Paulo, Haddad highlighted that, historically, the parties’ partnership is based on the principles of the Republic and democracy.
“Our purpose is to reach out to São Paulo voters who have a field here: the field of the Republic, of democracy, of transparency. In our field, people have ties to the state of São Paulo. They’re not coming now, they weren’t imported. Our purpose is to serve the state of São Paulo”, said the candidate.
Haddad also pointed out that, if elected, he will have the same relationship with city governments that he had when he was Minister of Education. “I never asked a mayor what party he was from. I wanted to know what his city needed. And what was my moral and technical obligation to attend. I’m not one to stop anyone’s work and I won’t. To end the agreement because I was not the one who signed it. I won’t do that,” he said.
