The president of the Republic, Pedro Castillo, promised to offer interviews soon to the communications media that request it. This was reported by the journalist Fernando Carvallo, who was part of the delegation that spoke on Tuesday with the president in government palace.
“We have had a meeting of one hour, the most recurrent question is when is he going to give interviews to the press. He has told us that he is going to do it, he has not set dates. He has also said that there are corrections to some of the decisions made so far and that they will be announced in the short term (…) He has promised to better inform and make decisions to eventually rebuild his cabinet”Commented the journalist Fernando Carvallo after concluding the meeting with the head of state.
This Tuesday, December 21, after almost five months of government, Castillo Terrones spoke with five journalists simultaneously for the first time since he assumed power on July 28.

However, the meeting was not broadcast live on official channels and it was not recorded for later broadcast. The Secretary of Communication and Press of the Presidential Office only delivered a file with images in which the arrival of the guests and their greeting with the president can be seen.
Upon leaving, journalists Jaime Chincha, Fernando Carvallo and Mávila Huertas detailed the details of the meeting and explained that they addressed issues related to the “economic, linked to the rise in prices; citizen security; concern about mining and investment; and education”.
“In what was clear (Pedro Castillo) is that there was a confusion in the understanding of him and his agenda because he has been mistakenly identified with the ideology of Peru Libre, which he does not subscribe to. He does not feel associated with the Marxist-Leninist base values that have shaped the plan of that party, even though he was his (party) candidate.“Said Carvallo.
Likewise, the journalist narrated that President Castillo Terrones admitted that in the few months of his administration mistakes were made and warned a “lack of good information to the public”.
“Errors made and lack of good information to the public, yes (he mentioned). Hence our insistence that he grant interviews to the free press so that they can express themselves on important issues, including that of (the meetings in) Breña and the departure due to censorship of the Minister of Education (Carlos Gallardo)”, He sentenced.
