Who was Fernando Carbone Campoverde?
Fernando Carbone was born on March 14, 1959 in Lima, he studied medicine at the National University of San Marcos (UNMSM) and specialized in health services administration at universities in Europe such as the University of Barcelona and the Carlos III University of Madrid.
Carbone was former minister of health during the government of Alejandro Toledo. Carbone stood out for implementing Comprehensive Health Insurance and the guidelines of the health sector, in addition, he worked as project coordinator for the network Medicusmundi and was an advisor to the Ministry of Health on different occasions.
Likewise, he led the project in the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Malaria and Tuberculosis and guidelines of the Health Sector Policy 2002-2012. During his time in the government of Toledo, Carbone Campoverde made great strides in health care for people in poverty.
