President Alberto Fernández advocated this Friday for the need to “work united and together” for Argentines and warned, in this sense, that “we already had too many years to distance ourselves, to fight, to make a difference.”

“There is a time in Argentina that, once and for all, we must inaugurate, which is the time to work together, to work together; we already had too many years to distance ourselves, to fight, to make a difference,” said the head of State, by leading an act on the esplanade of the Government House of Tucumán where agreements were signed for the construction of two city halls and 100 patrol cars were delivered.

Fernández led the act accompanied by the chief of staff, Juan Manzur; the head of the Chamber of Deputies, Sergio Massa; the deputy governor in charge of the Provincial Executive of Tucumán, Osvaldo Jaldo; and the Minister of Security, Aníbal Fernández.

“We are coming out of the problems. First of the debt with private creditors and yesterday we began to resolve the debt with the IMF. Debt that we inherited and that surely if we had been governing we would not have taken it. But they are problems that we have to solve”Alberto Fernandez

“We are coming out of the problems. First of the debt with the private creditors and yesterday we began to solve the debt with the IMF. Debt that we inherited and that surely if we had been governing we would not have taken. But they are problems that we have to solve”, the President pointed out in his speech.

These are the first words of the President after the sanction given last night by the Senate to the project that authorizes the National Executive to sign the agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for the refinancing of the debt contracted in 2018 by the Macrista government, converted into law with the positive vote of the majority of the ruling party and the opposition caucus.

After almost ten hours of session, the Upper House endorsed the understanding with the IMF for the refinancing of the debt of more than 44 billion dollars, by 56 votes against 13 and three abstentions.

Fernández led the event in Tucumán to Osvaldo Jaldo, Juan Manzur and Aníbal Fernández (Photo Presidency).

In most of the 40 speeches heard during the special session, from the two main political spaces, the Front of All (FdT) and Together for Change (JxC) they agreed on the need to prioritize the fact that Argentina signs the agreement with the IMF to avoid falling into default.

Among the positive votes, 20 were from the ruling party and 36 from the opposition, while of the 13 negatives, all were from the FdT.

In his speech from Tucumán, the President pointed out: “There are issues where it no longer makes sense for us to continue making those differences and it also makes no sense because the citizen problem has a different magnitude and is demanding that we yield, that each one yield what they have to yield in order to achieve the results that remain to be achieved”.

“There are issues where it no longer makes sense for us to continue making those differences and it also doesn’t make sense because the citizen problem has a different magnitude and each one of us is demanding that we give up what we have to give up in order to achieve the results”Alberto Fernandez

“I have the impression -he reflected- that we may be living a pivotal moment after solving problems that are so many that they are resolved and are forgotten after five minutes, but we are solving and we receive problems that are still pending to be resolved” .

For this reason, he said that “what we have to do is unite to solve the problems because everything makes sense in politics if it is done to improve people’s living conditions, for anything else politics does not make sense, for that it makes sense that we dedicate ourselves to govern”.

And he continued: “I know that in these two years we have left everything of ourselves to overcome problems that Argentina had and those that appeared like the pandemic.”
“We, who were born Peronists, when a problem appears, what we do is put our chests out and face it, but I want all Argentines to do the same and we can do it, we are beginning a stage where meetings must be ordinary and not exceptional,” he remarked.

In another order, the head of state affirmed that “the problem of security has no ideology”, and maintained that “it is not a problem of the right or the left but of the citizens and we must solve it by giving prestige to our security forces”.

“For the fight against crime, everything is within the law, nothing is outside the law. You have to be severe in the prosecution of crime and justice has to do its part,” he said.

During the act, agreements were signed for 596,546,598.85 pesos, which will enable the start of the construction works of the mayor’s offices in the towns of Río Seco, in the center-south of the province, and Delfín Gallo, located 10 kilometers from the provincial capital.

As was officially reported, the works are part of the Security Assistance Program whose main objectives are to strengthen the institutions of the internal security system and create adequate physical spaces to guarantee the custody of detained persons, respecting their rights and safeguarding their physical and mental health.

“These 100 patrol cars that we are delivering have a single objective, which is to dissuade criminals, because that way they feel watched. It is not the delivery of 100 cars, it is to put 100 cell phones on the street to defend the safety of all and that they are relentless in the fight against crime”, highlighted the President in his message.

Likewise, it indicated that the crime “is a complex social phenomenon because in the face of the responses that the State proposes, the crime tries to be able to perfect itself and be able to exist by jumping the limits that the State sets.”

Along these lines, he maintained that the task of the police “is difficult” and coincided with part of the speech by the Minister of Security, Aníbal Fernández – who spoke previously – in the sense that “you have to have courage to take on that task.”

“What we have to do as a society is to recognize every man and every woman in the security forces for all the commitment and effort they make and for giving us the security we deserve. And the first way to start solving it is by honoring the forces security, provincial and federal, understand that crime is perfected day by day and that is why the existence of organized crime is born,” he concluded.
