Fernández says that employment is a problem in the DR

Leonel swore in new members.

The president of the People’s Force, Leonel Fernández, said that it is true that the jobs that existed before the pandemic have been recovered and that new jobs are also being created.

“Employment is becoming a chronic problem in the Dominican Republic, the jobs prior to the pandemic have not been recovered and it is not true that new jobs are being created in the Dominican Republic,” Fernández assured.

When swearing in leaders of the provinces of Barahona, Samaná and Puerto Plata, Leonel Fernández said that the Dominican people need to trust their leaders and that this is based on having a referent of a democratic and material legacy to exhibit.

“I see the anguish, the desperation, the frustration of our young people”, because university graduates do not get jobs in the private sector, nor in the government, “when they do get it in the government, they have to last 4 or 5 months to collect the first check, with which they have to leave before the first payment, because they can’t resist paying tickets, paying for their food, without receiving anything in return, “Fernández explained.

He reiterated his concern about the high cost of the basic family basket, which he has been warning about for months, due to the great significance it has in guaranteeing the well-being of Dominicans.

“What most affects the Dominican people today is the high cost of food, everything has risen enormously, we have an inflation issue,” he argued.

He called on the government to assume the truth to overcome the crisis, because in his opinion, that is the key to solving the problem. “In the Dominican Republic we are in a deep crisis, as is the rest of the world, the only thing that here we are worse than other countries.
