President Alberto Fernández published on his Instagram social network account a photo with the former presidents of Bolivia, Evo Morales, of Paraguay, Fernando Lugo, and Uruguay, José Mujica, invited this Saturday to the act of commemoration for the 40 years of Malvinas that was held in the former Esma, and thanked them for “the commitment to Latin American unity”.
“Today we remember our heroes from #Malvinas with @lugo_py, @evomoralesayma, @pepe.mujicaok and Lucía Topolansky, the companion of the former Uruguayan president,” said the head of state in a text that accompanies a photo uploaded on this social network.
“After the act, encouraged by Evo, we all celebrated my birthday. Evo gave me a beautiful poncho knitted by Bolivian sisters. Thank you for so much affection and commitment to Latin American unity,” said the president.
about the act
Fernández called on the United Kingdom this Saturday to comply with the UN resolutions to resume the dialogue on the sovereignty of the Malvinas Islands and asked it to “abandon the unjustified military presence” in the archipelago, while recognizing the “courage matchless” of the ex-combatants, on the 40th anniversary of the start of the war today.
This was stated when leading this noon at the Malvinas Museum, located on the former ESMA site, the central act for the Day of the Veteran, the Veteran and the Fallen in the 1982 conflict that confronted Argentina with the United Kingdom.
“May the Malvinas ex-combatants never again fall into oblivion and silence on the part of any government,” the President expressed with emotion at the beginning of his speech.
