President Albert Fernandez sent this Monday “a clear signal” to the markets so that they understand that Argentina is willing to “gradually” control the fiscal deficit and that the dollar “has an adequate value”when referring to the measures presented this morning by the Minister of Economy, Silvina Batakis.

“That the markets understand that Argentina is willing to do what the minister said: to control public spendingcontinue on the path of controlling the fiscal deficit, gradually, so that it does not become an adjustment that harms the people,” remarked the Head of State while leading a tour of public works in the Buenos Aires town of Berazategui.

Fernández had held meetings on Sunday with the head of the Palacio de Hacienda to analyze the measures that were announced this morning at a press conference in which, among other points, the goals agreed with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) were ratified.

After Batakis pointed out that “the multilateral exchange rate is in a balanced situation,” the president said that the price of the US currency “is at an adequate value.”

“Give a clear signal that we are sure that the dollar that we are proposing for exports has an adequate value and we are not going to move from that cell”he claimed.

On the other hand, the visit to the south of the Buenos Aires conurbation to tour works served so that the Head of State could refer to two “achievements” of the administration: the promotion of public works and registered jobs in the construction sector, both reaching historic positive levels.

Accompanied by the Minister of Public Works, Gabriel Katopodis, and by the local mayor, Juan José Mussi, Fernández launched the resurfacing of 4.3 kilometers of Avenida 7, which has an investment of 467 million pesos and that It is the 5,000th work launched by the Casa Rosada.

It was in statements to the press when he highlighted that the national economy continues to grow thanks to public works, which he described as “invigorating the economy and work”.

“We are very happy that it has been public works that have motorized this. There are 5,000 public works throughout the country, like this one (for the resurfacing work in Berazategui), bringing work and well-being to all the towns in the country,” he pointed.

Regarding the employment impact of the undertakings, the Head of State stated that “the objective is to quickly reach 500,000 registered jobs in the construction sector”. “We are at around 450,000, and that is a record in Argentine history,” Fernandez celebrated and said: “Public works are always a better life condition for people, in this case a lighted, passable avenue, with sidewalks, with In other cases, they serve to improve the life of the Argentine economy, because they are roads that unite towns and that make it easier for the production to reach the ports of departure, or the places where they are consumed.”

During the tour, he also recalled that last Saturday the State delivered the 50,000th house, which is added to the more than 50,000 credits granted while progress is being made in the construction of 120,000 additional housing solutions.

Katopodis affirmed that public works in Argentina “is an engine” that allowed “building hospitals, starting at a very difficult time” as was the pandemic, and “that in this delicate world context it is once again the lever with which we are going to sustain the economy”.

Mayor Mussi assured that this type of work “improves the quality of life of citizens and generates employment, two things that are very important.”

The repaving works on Avenida 7 in Berazategui are part of the Urban Connectivity Hubs Program, which currently includes 215 works and 137 projects, for an estimated multi-year investment of 118,419 million pesos.

The execution of this infrastructure plan had an impact on the progress of job creation in the construction sector, which currently exceeded 450,000 registered jobs and is on track to reach 500,000, a record number for more than 10 years.
