The announcement was made at the Pando Science and Technology Park, a space that Cardona described as a symbol of joint work between academia, the business sector and the State. According to the future minister, this coordination approach will be key to her management.
“Uruguay needs to build a national industrial policy that integrates the social, the productive and the environmental,” said Cardona at the event, highlighting that his ministry will seek a territorial imprint, with an active presence in the interior of the country.
The announced team includes figures with extensive technical and professional experience:
- Eugenia Villaras undersecretary, is a lawyer with training in political communication. She currently works as a parliamentary advisor and for the Association of Fairs of Uruguay.
- Rodrigo Diazappointed general director of the Secretariat, is a lawyer and teacher with a master’s degree in Public International Law.
- Adrian Migueznew national director of Industries, has a degree in International Business with experience in territorial development and investment promotion.
- Arianna Spinellithe next national director of Energy, is a chemical engineer with extensive experience in hydrocarbons and energy regulations.
- Pablo Sirisnational director of Telecommunications, current director of the URSEC representing the Frente Amplio, has training in governance and public innovation.
- Juan Carlos Hermidawho will take over as the regulatory authority for Radioprotection, is a doctor specialized in nuclear medicine with outstanding experience in radiation safety.
- Rosario Odinofuture director of Nuclear Technology Applications, is a pharmaceutical chemist with extensive experience at the MIEM.
- Nestor Campalwho will return to the National Directorate of Mining and Geology, is a geologist with experience in environmental and geological studies.
- Marianela Delorthe next national director of Industrial Property, is an international consultant on the subject and has experience in international organizations.
- Luis Inzaurraldenational director of Crafts, Small and Medium Enterprises, is a merchant with extensive experience in restructuring SMEs in the food sector.
