Fenasep denounces inflated payroll during the Cortizo administration

Hundreds of millions of dollars have been allocated by the administration of President Laurentino Cortizo in hiring officials, which according to the National Federation of Public Servants (Fenasep) are unnecessary.

According to him general secretary of the Fenasep, Alejandro Haynes, since 2019, when Cortizo came to power, the state payroll has been inflated and not satisfied with this during the pandemic. The government has earmarked millions of dollars in aid for private companies, a situation that is affecting the state coffers.

“We know that the government payroll has increased by several hundred million dollars and that only implies new appointments,” he said, considering that there is a very big problem thanks to the abuse that the government has had in making appointments.

Hayes assured that this practice of appointing unnecessary personnel does not stop since he has received information that the highest levels of government are looking for positions within the ministries to place new officials despite the fact that there are no vacancies.

“There are a lot of people, they are even looking for space in the ministries, because there is no room for people,” he added and said that the resource that must be used to meet the needs of the population, for repair of streets, one of the shortcomings that this government has, or for garbage collection, they are being used to pay bills that are not needed at this time.
