Oscar Almánzar, president of FENAMOTO, is categorically opposed to the new tax that the mayor of Santo Domingo Este would charge for the registration of motorcycles in that district.
“We reject this measure, because what they wanted to sell is a motorcycle registry, which incurs all possible illegality,” said the union member.
He questioned in this sense that the mayor’s office requests payment of a badge, where there is already a tax for possession of the identification in the DGII.

“If the mayor wants to charge an excise tax on the issue of motoconchistas, he can charge them for the use of land, we support it but from there to charge a tax of 1000 pesos, that is against the law,” said Almánzar.
He recommended that the Internal Revenue Department issue a license plate for this means of transportation by province.
This with the objective of identifying and monitoring the routes of those drivers who offer public transportation service.
SDE town council plan
The Mayor’s Office of Santo Domingo Este (ASDE) announced that it would begin a motorcycle registration plan in the municipality, which aims to organize and maintain control of two-wheeled motor vehicles in that district at a cost of one thousand pesos.
The city council indicates that among the requirements, motorcyclists must carry a copy of their identity card; driver license; certificate of no criminal record; proof of residence in the municipality and registration of the license plate and license plate of the engine used.
