Female voices rise in Caracas against the imposition of imperial models

During the Meeting of the World Anti-imperialist Platform Women’s chapter, held in Caracas, delegates from 29 countries debated the geopolitical implications of the US military deployment in the Caribbean; event that brought together representatives of political parties, social movements and feminist organizations with the objective of articulating actions to defend regional sovereignty.

The president of the Simón Bolívar Foundation for Peace and Solidarity among Peoples, Blanca Eekhout, stated that imperial aggression is not limited to Venezuela, but represents an attempt to impose an authoritarian model on a global scale. “The women of the world have gathered to defend the right to build a future based on self-determination and respect for the international framework.”

For her part, the vice president of International Affairs of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Tania Díaz, proposed the formation of international solidarity brigades with Venezuela. “These actions seek to send a firm message to the centers of global power about the will of the people to move towards a more just and equitable order.”

In this sense, the member of the Communist Party of Colombia, Aminta Beleño, highlighted the role of women in popular resistance and the construction of alternatives to the hegemonic model. Along the same lines, Irina Santesteban, from the Argentine Liberation Party, advocated for an international system based on equality, solidarity and self-determination of peoples.

The meeting also served as a platform for the First International Day in Support of the Bolivarian Revolution and the Communes, where the commitment of women to the defense of emancipatory processes was reaffirmed. In this context, the spokespersons for the women’s front highlighted the need to maintain the fight for sovereignty and peace.
