Félix Chero on the vacancy debate in Congress: "I would advise the president to go"

“If you ask me what I would advise the president as Minister of Justice, I would advise the President of the Republic to go and explain the reasons why this vacancy request is insubstantial and inadmissible”, he declared to the press.

At another time, the head of the Ministry of Justice indicated that if the head of state is vacated, he would not support an eventual government of Dina Boluarte, as he recalled that she said that if Pedro Castillo were dismissed, she would resign from the post of Vice President of the Republic.

Likewise, Felix Chero He reiterated that if the president is vacated by Parliament, he would have the power to present an amparo, a precautionary measure or go to the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR).

“What I have indicated is that, in the event that the Congress of the Republic generates a presidential vacancy, they have an expedited right to resort to the defense of their fundamental rights, which can be through an amparo, a precautionary measure or can be done through of the international instance by the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights”, he stressed.
