Saint Dominic.- The senator for the San Juan province, Félix Bautistapresented a bill to eliminate the two exonerations of taxes received by Dominican legislators.
Instead, it proposes that the presidencies of the legislative chambers provide an official vehicle to each congressman at the beginning of their term.
The initiative, which has five articles, establishes that the characteristics and conditions of the vehicle will be defined through a resolution adopted by both chambers.

In addition, it contemplates the repeal of several laws related to exonerations, including Law 50-96 and Law 57-96.
If approved, this proposal would come into effect on August 16, 2028.
For his part, the Senator Alexis Victoria Yeb He also introduced a project that seeks to limit exemptions to a single vehicle per legislator every four years, with a maximum value of $200,000.
This benefit has cost the State more than 2.14 billion pesos since 2020, according to Customs data, including luxury and sports vehicles.
Both proposals seek to reduce the impact of this privilege on public finances.
