D’Avila pledged to present a certificate related to carbon credits at the end of the election period. According to the candidate, the announcement was made in honor of the Day of the Amazon, celebrated today.

D’Avila’s campaign platform envisions a plan to transform Brazil into a “zero carbon” nation. Among the planned measures are the fight against deforestation and illegal mining, financing for the planting of forest areas on small rural properties, the generation of clean energy and measures related to the bioeconomy.

Last week, in a campaign in the city of Piracicaba (SP), Felipe D’Avila assessed that Brazilian agribusiness is environmentally sustainable. “Which country in the world produces soy and maintains 35% of legal reserve as in the Cerrado? Which country in the world produces a ton of cocoa and maintains 80% of reserve as in the northern region of the country? Brazilian agriculture is very sustainable. What we have to do is have an environmental policy to fight deforestation and change Brazil’s international image,” he said.
