The Federation of Neighborhood Boards (Fejuve) La Paz, led by Justino Apaza, rejected the increase in the urban cleaning rate announced Monday by Mayor Iván Arias. The organization is in a state of emergency and announced pressure measures.
“The mayor has issued a resolution against the people of La Paz where he indicates the increase in the cleaning fee. At this moment we are present to reject outright, because this goes against all the people of La Paz,” Apaza denounced at a press conference.

This Monday, Arias reported that the urban cleaning service rate increased between 77 cents and 1.76 bolivianos, an amount set based on the update of the Housing Development Unit (UFV).
“From Tuesday, in case we are not heard in the rejection of the resolution, we will go out to the mobilizations until this resolution is rejected. Here we meet the representatives of each macro-district”, said Apaza during a protest at the gates of the City Hall. According to the leader, the increase is 84%.
Apaza said that the measure put the Periférico, Cotahuma, Zona Sur and San Antonio macrodistricts on red alert.
Arias explained that, if the consumption of electrical energy is between 0 and 50 kilowatts, with the adjustment he will pay 2.87 bolivianos for the cleaning fee. In 2021 the user paid 2.10 bolivianos.
Meanwhile, if the consumption ranges between 51 and 100 kilowatts with the update for this 2022, you will pay 5.76 bolivianos, an increase of 1.76 bolivianos. And last year four Bolivians were paid for this service.
