The former presidential candidate, Federico Gutiérrez, reported that in the second round he will support Rodolfo Hernandez.
The man from Antioquia referred to the results of the election day that took place this Sunday, May 29. He said that “Rodrigo Lara and I will vote for Rodolfo because we love Colombia.”
He also mentioned that “we are no longer in the race. Sometimes they win, other times they lose, but democracy is cared for and respected”.
“Gustavo Petro for everything he has said would be a danger to Colombia and it is not convenient for the country,” he added.

Immediately afterwards, he said that “for us the country will always be above. Far above our individual and personal interests. Today Colombians have two alternatives in this electoral contest that is approaching and that is why, knowing that our position is decisive for the future of Colombia, we have made the decision to support Rodolfo Hernández.”
Gutiérrez indicated that “I have not spoken with Rodolfo nor do I need to. I want to express that we do not want to lose the country and that we are not going to put the future of Colombia at risk. We are not going to put our families and the future of our children at risk.
That is why Rodrigo Lara and I will vote for Rodolfo on June 19.”
“We are not and will never be indifferent to the future of the country and we want the best for Colombia and that is why we were in the electoral contest seeking to unite Colombia. We are no longer in that contest, that is democracy, but democracy is cared for and respected and those are the rules of the game“, he claimed.
He stated that “Gustavo Petro would be a danger to democracy, to freedoms, to the economy, to our families and our children. That is why we believe that this option would be a danger for the country. We clarify that Rodolfo and his team will be responsible for their actions within the Government. In addition, we made it clear that we will not be part of his government nor will we seek to do so.”
The former candidate for the Presidency pointed out that “we are going to maintain a position of oversight and always try and seeking in a sensible and coherent way to unite Colombia, which is the most urgent purpose”.
“What we do want is for Colombia to do well and that is why we cannot be indifferent. Respectfully and gratefully for those who voted for us, I invite you to take care of the country and to vote for Rodolfo next July 19. Understanding that it is the most sensible way to take care of democracy and freedoms”, he concluded.
