Hernán Huttemann, Chief of the Executive’s Civil Cabinet, announced at a press conference that Arnaldo Giuzzio, Minister of the Interior, had been removed from office.
This decision is based, according to his words, to safeguard the legitimacy of the ministry that could be affected by recent events.
The context is as follows, on Monday night, a journalistic investigation revealed that Arnaldo Giuzzio, Minister of the Interior, used vehicles belonging to the alleged drug trafficker Marcus Vinicius Espíndola Marqués de Padua.
The man was recently arrested in the framework of the operation called “Turf”. Giuzzio himself admitted yesterday to several media outlets that it was true, but that he did it for rent. However, he did not have the invoices to prove these claims.
Esperanza Martínez, National Senator for the Guasu Front, expressed that the unfortunate thing about this matter is that from the Government of the Republic and the referents of the ANR, from one sector or another, they are linked to the mafia, to narco-politics, the cigarette smuggling and money laundering.
“The Colorado Party is undermined by these mafia sectors, that there is an internal war and that each one takes out the other, gives us a general overview of national politics. The citizenry realizes that they have no options,” he said.
For the legislator, the change of Federico González by Arnaldo Giuzzio does not generate any sensation that the Government is not involved in narcopolitics and the mafia.
“All the actors close to Abdo Benítez or his partisan opponents have received financing from those sectors. So there is no credibility. They are all part of a process. That’s why the changes are more of the same, ”he commented.
