On the occasion of its 50th anniversary, the Federation Dominican of Merchants (FDC) recognized this Saturday businessmen and officials for their contributions to the Dominican commercial sector.
In this sense, the businessman José Luis Corripio Estrada (Pepín) received the Great Prize to the Commercial Excellence in the Great Gold Gala held at the National Theater.
In this activity, businessman José Luis Corripio was also awarded the Great Prize to the Commercial Excellence of the institution.
Likewise, they were recognized as winners, the Governor of the Bank Central, Héctor Valdez Albizu; the director of Customs, Yayo Lovatón; the Administrator of the Bank of Reservations, Samuel Pereyra and the director of Pro Consumidor, Eddy Alcántara, among other personalities.
Likewise, during the event, tribute was paid to the merchants deceased Manuel Corripio GarciaJosé Ureña, José León Amado Pared, Francisco Jiménez Reyes, Mario Lama, Carlos Bairán, Andrés Sánchez, and Félix Rodríguez.
Ivan of Jesus Garciapresident of the entity said that the FDC recognizes the great contributions of Pepín Corripio to the development of national commerce while indicating that the entity he presides celebrates half a century being the engine of the national economy.
He highlighted that FDC has had exponential growth since it began with 60 associations in 1997 and has 63,200 affiliated entities in 2024, being the most impactful union in the country and generating almost a million jobs in the commercial sector.
He stated that the aforementioned institution was born on October 20, 1974, at the El Naranjo Hotel in Higüey and its first president was the Santiago merchant José Ureña (Nene) who ensured that all commercial associations were under the same umbrella.
