A dozen federal judges of the entire political spectrum have ruled against the management of the Supreme Court in cases involving President Trump, in the midst of intense public scrutiny about the sentences of lower courts.

The judges spoke with NBC News on condition of anonymity for fear of reprisals, so it is not clear who they are.

The chain reported however that the list includes judges “appointed by Democratic and Republican presidents, including Trump, and who provide services throughout the country.”

They rejected what they defined as a pattern of emergency decisions of the high court, of conservative trend, in response to decisions of lower courts on controversial cases that involve the Trump administration.

Three of the judges of the Supreme Court were proposed by Trump during their first mandate in the White House.

Supreme Court supports Trump and limits the power of federal judges to issue orders nationwide

Federal judges said the Supreme Court should better explain their emergency decisions. And that they fear that the management of the Court in cases that involve Trump to have validated the criticism of the president to the judges of lower courts. “It’s inexcusable,” said one. “They don’t support us.”

Last year the president of the Supreme Court, John Roberts, condemned the elected officials who have tried to intimidate the judges and challenged the judicial sentences.

“Attempts to intimidate the judges for their failures in the cases are inappropriate and must be strongly rejected,” Roberts wrote in his year -end summary of 2024.

“Public officials certainly have the right to criticize the work of the Judiciary, but they must be aware that the intemperance in their statements about the judges can cause dangerous reactions in others,” he said.

The federal judges that preside over some of the most outstanding cases related to the Trump administration have ruled against the threats they have faced as tensions between the White House and the Judiciary increase.

“We need a call to action in this country by our lawyers and judges to say: ‘Not in this country, not under our supervision,” said Federal District Judge John Cughenour, who blocked Trump’s executive order to restrict citizens by birth.

He said that the forces of the order went to their home with weapons drawn in February after the local sheriff’s office received a false call in which he claimed that he had murdered his wife.

“I was surprised by the damage that has been caused to the reputation of our Judiciary because some political actors believe that they can obtain an advantage by attacking the independence of the Judiciary and threatening the rule of law,” he said.
