Federal forces hit 865 million pesos against drug traffickers in Sinaloa

Federal security elements dealt a strong blow to the finances of organized crime in Sinaloa with the disabling of seven drug laboratories and concentration areas with thousands of liters of chemical precursors and tons of synthetic drugs, which together represent an impact on organized crime of more than of 865 million pesos, the security cabinet of the Mexican government reported yesterday.

The destruction of the clandestine facilities took place between last Friday and Sunday, in different operations carried out by the Secretariats of the Navy (Semar), the National Defense (Defensa) and the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) in the municipalities of Culiacán and Cosalá.

In the first action, the FGR and Semar located and destroyed in Culiacán an illegal laboratory with chemical precursors and accessories for the manufacture of synthetic drugs, they seized 1,300 kilograms of methamphetamine, 22,760 kilograms of chemical substances, six reactors, two distillers and various material, in the vicinity of the Corral Viejo town.

The authorities estimate that the economic impact on organized crime due to said coup is 18 million 868 thousand 200 dollars (more than 382.2 million pesos at today’s exchange rate).

The same security institutions, but in Cosalá, destroyed another clandestine laboratory with chemical precursors and accessories for the manufacture of synthetic drugs, they seized 140 kilograms of methamphetamine, 500 liters of precursors, 100 kilograms of essential chemicals and various materials, in the vicinity of the Bacatá town. They estimate that due to this fact the impact on crime is 2 million 31 thousand 960 dollars (more than 41.1 million pesos).

Meanwhile, the Secretariat of National Defense in Culiacán and Cosalá disabled four concentration areas where they secured 2,100 liters of various material for the production of methamphetamine, whose economic impact on criminal organizations is estimated to be 46 million pesos.

In another action in Culiacán, elements of the Mexican Army, National Guard (GN) and FGR searched a property where they seized 98 kilos and 1,260 liters of methamphetamine, 200 liters of ethyl alcohol, 169 liters of acetone, six liters of hydrochloric acid, 209 cartridges, two vehicles and other elements used to create narcotics. According to the authorities, the economic damage to criminal groups was estimated at 396 million pesos.

In addition, elements of the Army carried out the destruction of 20 poppy plantations on two hectares and 32 marijuana plantations on two hectares in the states of Sinaloa, Chihuahua, Durango and Guerrero.
