Fedenaga urged the Government to reactivate the National Rural Security Commission

The National Federation of Livestock Farmers of Venezuela (Fedenaga) rejected the murder of the Guariqueño agricultural producer Gabriel González Rojas and urged the Government to reactivate the National Rural Security Coordination.

Through a statement, Fedenaga stated “his deepest rejection and dismay at the vile murder of our colleague and agricultural producer Ricardo González Rojas.”

The body of González Rojas was located this Thursday on the banks of the Chaguaramas-Memo highway, Samanito sector, borders of Guárico and Aragua. He had three bullet wounds.

The agricultural producer had been kidnapped on February 1 on his farm located in the Juan José Rondón municipality (Las Mercedes del Llano), where armed individuals arrived in a truck, took a tractor from the rural property, demolished a wall of the house and subdued González Rojas.

«This unfortunate event is not only an attack against a human life and an honorable family, but a direct attack against those of us who guarantee the nation’s food security. Violence in rural areas has crossed intolerable limits, sowing mourning and anxiety in the productive sector,” Fedenaga says in the statement.

In the document, the livestock federation requested the reactivation of the Commission of the National Rural Security Commission of the Ministry of the Interior, Justice and Peace “whose purpose of creation at the time was that of articulated work between the State security bodies, both police and military, with our union.”

This instance to which the livestock union alludes was announced on April 21, 2022 by the then Minister of the Interior, Remigio Ceballos, who called it the National Rural Security Coordination.

Likewise, Fedenaga urged the Public Ministry and the State security forces to carry out “an exhaustive investigation and procedural speed to find those responsible for this crime.”

«The countryside cannot continue at the mercy of organized crime. The countryside cannot produce under fear. “Enough of violence against those who work the land!” concluded Fedenaga.

Communiqués with similar content were issued by the Association of Producers of the state of Barinas and the Federation of Ranchers and Farmers of Suroccidente.
