Fede Morón: “They use justice to take a public servant at ease”

Fede Morón: "They use justice to take a public servant at ease"

He is under house arrest, dictated by a judge, after what councilor Marcelo Vidaurre called a lousy investigative procedure, directed and unprofessional.

According to Vidaurre, the officer assigned to the case practically instructed the prosecutor in charge of the investigation to expand the complaint to Fede Morón, the prosecutor complied and expanded, and from there the arrest warrant for Morón originated.

From the Autonomous Community they believe that, despite the insistence of the Public Ministry to have sufficient grounds to prosecute Fede Morón, the judge rejected the preventive detention in the Palmasola prison because he appreciated that in the precautionary hearing they did not refer to the statements of Morón, in which he himself asks for a confrontation with the people who denounced having given him money.

Since the measure was imposed, the legislator of the Autonomous Community, Fede Morón, has seen his routine as a father and as a councilor interrupted. He can’t even drop his son off from school and pick him up; to his good fortune, he has a family that helps him a lot. He, too, will not be able to go out on the street, which hinders his control of the administration of Mayor Jhonny Fernández.

He has previous complaints, but for crimes of a private nature, such as defamation, slander, and insults, but the intensity of the prosecution is increasing with this latest case, in which Morón is alluded to for being involved in acts of corruption.

However, in an interview with EL DEBER Radio, yesterday he warned the municipal Executive that he will find ways to do his job.

– Did you imagine confronting a situation like this?
Of course, we are in Bolivia. This is more normal than it appears, the issue is that they are increasingly creative, direct in the way they can lead a public servant to their hearts content, and using justice. It was a possibility that was coming for all that we audited.

– How will you cope with the arrest?
With a lot of humor and love from my family, and all the support I have received, because just as house arrest is absurd and unfair, because on top of that they told me that there is a risk of flight because I don’t have a home, if I stay in the tortuous what they do, I give them the pleasure.

On the contrary, I will take advantage of this absurd house arrest to denounce more loudly, in a more orderly way with the whole team, and work with the citizens so that everything that I cannot do right now, because they have taken away the possibility of monitoring, of carrying out inspections , to go out; I will look for a way for the public to help me. You have to see the positive side.

– “Courage is contagious”, is your phrase. What did you feel when you saw the demonstrations of support?
It has been very crazy because when they apprehend me, all of a sudden they wanted to take my phone away. From then on I waited until my lawyer arrived to hand it over, and until yesterday afternoon, when I came out, I didn’t see anything.

Yesterday I did not stop crying when I arrived because I had just begun to see the signs of support from everywhere, from the districts of Santa Cruz, from Bolivia, from the world. I’m really excited and trying to digest everything, but the support has been fantastic.

– Is there a relationship between your arrest and your complaint about the Tundy-Las Peñas highway?
Absolutely, but it wasn’t just that. I was with important complaints about substantive issues, about the ecological cordon, the Los Sauces stream, La Nueva Santa Cruz, the issue of aquifers, where Jhonny has a lot to do with it.

People recognize that Tundy-Las Peñas is a copy and paste of what has already happened with the double track to La Guardia. The mayor has been very exposed, worse when he goes to his farm every weekend and people see what he is doing, and now he is coming to his farm, a road paid for by all.

The problem is that the mayor buys land there before paving and notifies his friends that there is land to buy, because he doesn’t even buy it in his name. Of course I have proof, if he didn’t, he wouldn’t make these types of complaints.

– How will the inspection be with citizen help?
It’s very new because I just got out, I don’t have all the answers yet, but it’s about summoning the public, taking advantage of house arrest. The creative power of citizenship can be interesting.
