The executive director of Special Fund for Agricultural DevelopmentHecmilio Galván, opened the coconut substrate processing plant in Los Memisos de Nagua.
The plant is expected to generate more than one hundred direct jobs and have an investment in machinery of more than 60 million pesos for this community.
The project begins with the signing of the agreement by Hecmilio Galván, director of Feda; Santo Burgos, president of the Los Memisos Oregano Association, and businessman Daniel Dalet, owner of the Lavador farm.
Development Plan of the Coconut Industry
The official announced that a large project is being developed to promote the planting, consumption and industrialization of coconut, which would involve the planting of some 30,000 coconut plantations throughout the country, with reimbursable financing and some donations for small producers.
He said this National Plan for the Relaunch of the Coco Sector of the Dominican Republic intends to promote the establishment of coconut plantations, and renew exhausted and unproductive ones and take advantage of old trunks to obtain wood that will be used economically in the manufacture of furniture, as well as promote the industrialization of coconut.
He also indicated that during the plan it is planned to carry out different activities to make coconut production visible and give importance, especially through the National Coconut Festival, to be held in the city of Nagua, María Trinidad Sánchez province, as well as other important activities. for the industry.
Present at the signing ceremony were the mayor of Nagua, Junior Peralta; the provincial governor, Gregoria Correa; Efraín Toribio, president of the council of the Feda; Luis Freddy Guzmán and Gabriel del Rosario, deputy administrative director and legal consultant for Feda.
