The director of Special Fund for Agricultural Development (FEDA), Hecmilio Galvándelivered RD$7 million to the Cooperative of Corn Producers of La Ceiba, in San Juan de la Maguanafor the completion of the grain processing plant as part of the efforts of the Government to guarantee the food security of the country, which is affected by the world crisis unleashed by Russia’s War with Ukraine.
The contribution was received by the president of the cooperative, Benito Bidó, during a ceremony held in La Ceiba de Pedro Corto, headed by Galván, who was accompanied by the mayor of Hanoi Sánchez de San Juan, Ana Maria Castillo, Regional Director of Presidential Management, Daniel Quiterio, FEDA Regional, among other personalities.
Galván pointed out that the production and processing of corn is a strategic mission entrusted by President Luis Abinader, to reduce the international impact of the crisis and thus guarantee precious food, both for humans and for farm animals.

Galván said that the delivery of the funds to the La Ceiba Corn Producers Cooperative will make the completion of the shelling plant corn and that the community will achieve its development through the provision of raw material for the preparation of balanced feed to ranchers in the southern region and the country.
Galván expressed that corn cultivation live hundreds of families from the communities of Los Cocos, Pajonal and La Ceiba. He added that the processing plant of corn will bring well-being to the members of the cooperative and to the population here in general.

The official recalled that corn is a profitable product and is required by the local and international, so it will promote the planting of new varieties of this crop so that the producers increase their profits and the community develops.
