The Special Fund for Agricultural Development (FEDA) delivered three associative tubular wells equipped with 4-inch water pumps, to irrigate the Los Olivares de Pedernales project, with 3,500 planted tasks and 241 producers, and the “Los 30” project.
He indicated that this hydraulic work, valued at one million six hundred thousand pesos, represents a significant step towards the economic and social development of the entire community of Pedernales, since it will strengthen employment and food security in the face of tourism.
Hecmilio Galván, director of FEDA, said that Pedernales has agricultural potential, especially in the production of tropical fruits, bananas and tubers, which is important to exploit for tourism development.
The event was attended by local authorities, the mayor of Pedernales, Alfredo Francés, representatives of the agricultural sector and direct beneficiaries of the project, who highlighted the importance of this investment for the sustainable development of Pedernales and the improvement of living conditions in the community.
FEDA reaffirms its commitment to rural development in the Dominican Republic, implementing actions that boost agricultural productivity and ensure the well-being of agricultural communities nationwide.
