The Special Credit Survey by Febraban (Brazilian Federation of Banks), released this Monday (18), in São Paulo, reveals that the total balance of the credit portfolio is expected to grow 0.8% in October, with the pace of annual expansion could return to double digits, from 9.9% to 10.4%.
The highlight of the study was credit directed to companies, which should increase 2.1%, mainly thanks to the boost in financing from BNDES (National Bank for Economic and Social Development) and public programs, such as the launch of the Believe Program, aimed at for small and micro businesses.
The “directed individual” portfolio, according to the survey, could grow 1.1% in the month, driven by the maintenance of real estate financing and rural credit – still a reflection of the harvest plan. Thus, this type of portfolio can grow from 11.2% to 11.4% in total.
Expansion pace
The expansion of free credit, in turn, is expected to increase by just 0.4% in October, but still enough to accelerate the portfolio’s annual expansion pace, from 9.1% to 9.7%. In October, projections indicate increases of 1.1%, focusing on vehicle financing lines, personal credit and cash cards, favored by the increase in employment and income.
The Febraban study is based on indications from consolidated data from the country’s main banks, which represent, depending on the credit lines, from 42% to 88% of the total balance of the National Financial System. The survey is released every month as a preview of the official data, which should be released on November 28th by the Central Bank.
