The Frente de Todos (FDT) in the Buenos Aires Legislature requested this Tuesday the interpellation of the director of the Higher Institute of Public Security, Gabriel Unrein, so that be accountable for faculty and research appointmentsamong which are that of the licensed Security Minister Marcelo D’Alessandro and judge María Eugenia Capuchetti, who is investigating the assassination attempt against Vice President Cristina Kirchner.
The request was made by the president of the Buenos Aires opposition block, Claudio Ferreño, for the official to attend the Security Commission of the local Parliament “for the purpose of being questioned in relation to the current state of the Institute, particularly with respect to the teaching staff, holding competitions, direct appointments of professors and researchers”.
The presentation emphasized the appointments of the federal judge as senior investigator of the institution and also of the Minister of Security and Justice of the City D’Alessandro, as tenured professor, as well as the Attorney General of the City, Juan Bautista Mahiques, who He holds the position of vice director.
As indicated by the FDT bloc, they aim to “learn the reasons behind” the appointment of Capuchetti, “considering that they have not been made based on a public contest of opposition and background”
The employment relationship between the Institute and the magistrate was disclosed last week by the Minister of Justice and Human Rights of the Nation, Martín Soria, who specified that Capuchetti “has been hired” since 2019 by the Government of Horacio Rodríguez Larreta.
As indicated by the FDT bloc, they aim to “learn the reasons behind” the appointment of Capuchetti, “considering that they have not been made based on a public contest of opposition and background.”
They also alluded to the appointment, through resolution 12/23 of the Institute, of D’Alessandro, who “is currently on leave for a series of scandals regarding possible acts of corruption and maneuvers with federal judges and media businessmen that are unethical for a public official”.
“It is worth asking, in this sense, if Unrein considered this series of facts when signing the different resolutions that designate them and, in particular, if he made an ethical assessment of said designations taking into account the role of the Institute,” they concluded. .
