FdT and JxC legislators summoned themselves to Congress in repudiation of the attack on the vice president

Senators and deputies from the Front of All and Together for Change convened themselves in the National Congress to make public a joint declaration rejecting the attack on Vice President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner at the door of her home.
Legislators from the two main political caucuses They met after 11:40 p.m. in the Arturo Illia room of the Senate, where they took a joint photograph as a sign of unity in the face of the attempted attack on the Vice President.
The president of the Frente de Todos interbloc, José Mayans, the space’s vice president, Anabel Fernández Sagasti, and their peers from Together for Change, Alfredo Cornejo and Luis Naidenoff, led the meeting together with members of both blocs.
Also present were the President of the Chamber of Deputies, Cecilia Moreauand deputies from different blocks.
Mayans He declared that they value the support of the opposition and that they await the “prompt clarification” of the fact. He also said that she communicated with the Vice President and that the head of the Senate is fine since “she is a person of great spirit.”
“We have met to express our repudiation and express our support for the vice president for this unfortunate event against her and her family. We hope that this event will be resolved soon and we deeply regret what has happened,” he said.
Mayans also urged “to work for social peace” and assured that “they did not kill” the vice president because “God is great.”
“She felt that they targeted her,” she said, “she grabbed her head thinking that something had happened to her, but thank God we have her without any problem.”
Moreau announced that in the next few hours they would formally communicate joint actions from both political blocs and asked the militancy to “hold on”, after sending a “strong hug” to the official.
The deputy and head of the Banking Association, Sergio Palazzo, from the Frente de Todos, affirmed that the attack on Fernández de Kirchner is part of “systematic and symbolic attacks of gender violence” that he has been suffering and called for repudiating the attack.
Most of the senators had withdrawn from the Senate after this afternoon’s session in which economic projects were approved, but they decided to return as soon as the news of the attempted assassination of the vice president spread.

Earlier, the block of deputies of the Front of All had repudiated “Energetically the attempt against the life” of Vice President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner.
“We strongly repudiate the attempt on the life of Vice President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner,” says the statement released tonight.
The legislators added: “We have been warning about it. The incitements to hatred poured from different spheres of political, media and judicial power against the former president only led to a climate of extreme violence.”
“We urge the entire leadership, the media and society as a whole to join this repudiation, as well as to commit to the search for social peace above any difference,” they expressed in the text.

“Preserving life and peace is imperative for the development of human life, freedom and democracy,” the statement concludes.
Senators of the ruling party ask to clarify the attack
The vice president of the FdT interbloc, Anabel Fernández Sagasti, expressed her “absolute repudiation” and requested “immediate clarification of the extremely serious events that occurred moments ago in the vice president’s house.”

His peer from the bench, Buenos Aires senator Mariano Recalde declared for his part that it is “an extremely serious fact that must be clarified immediately.”

The senator for San Luis, Eugenia Catalfamo, maintained that the facts must be clarified immediately, while Alberto Weretilneck, from Rio Negro, considered that “in a democracy there is no place for violence.”
