The president of the FCU-UCV, Jesús Mendoza Morales, said that young people should see themselves reflected in these dialogues, “something that does not happen today.” He called it necessary for the public to know the destination of the unlocked funds and informed that the sector aspires to present a proposal on the needs they have in the houses of studies
The Federation of University Centers (FCU) of the Central University of Venezuela (UCV) demanded the installation of technical tables that address the disbursement and execution of the 3,000 million dollars, which were released after the first round of negotiations between the government and the opposition in Mexico, held on November 26.
The president of the FCU-UCV, Jesús Mendoza Morales, assured that it is necessary to guarantee that the decisions translate into improvements for citizens. He reiterated that young people must see themselves reflected in these dialogues, “something that does not happen today.”

He asserted that the policy of secrecy regarding the destination of the dollars that have been announced for health, social issues and education should not be maintained. He informed that they aspire to present proposals on the needs of the university sector.
«It is necessary that all levels of education: basic, medium and diversified,: we participate in some technical tables to specify the destination of this money. Infrastructure, education, teachers’ salaries and wages, student demands, canteens, scholarships, are some of the shortcomings we have and that is why it is important that all the universities in the country participate in this,” stressed the student leader.
For his part, Yonathan Carrillo, deputy president of FCU-UCV, questioned that the mere fact that young people have to go out and ask to be included in these negotiations gives clear signs of the disconnection of politicians with Venezuelan society.
Pointing out that the university students hope that this approved money does not end up getting lost along the way, as -as he stated- has happened with other aid, Carrillo emphasized that this issue cannot remain stagnant in what he cited as political “hearts”.
“Venezuela has not been fixed, these resources must be allocated and reach Venezuelans in an efficient and productive manner,” added the spokesperson after announcing that they have tried to approach the Unitary Platform without success so far.
