The Michoacan politician retweeted a publication by Mexicans against Corruption, in which the beneficiaries of the federal government’s social programs are asked about the support they receive.
The day before, the Country Report 2020 revealed that scourges such as patronage, corruption and discrimination experienced by the population call into question the progress made by democracy in Mexico in terms of building the rule of law and a more egalitarian and cohesive.
Regarding electoral clientelism, it was detailed that “there is a high perception” that votes are bought in Mexico (52% very frequent), and that governments use public resources to favor their political parties (46% very frequent). 44% consider that it is little or not at all frequent that the votes are counted cleanly in Mexico.
