Fausto Romeo states that private schools foresee increases from 20% to 40% in registration

Romeo said that much of the school operating budget is used for the payment of benefits, salaries and social commitments

Fausto Romeo, director of Educational Council and vice president of the National Association of Private Educational Institutes (Andiep), said that for the next school year that begins in September, an increase in the cost of registrations that ranges between 20% and 40% in private schools is estimated.

In an interview for Unión Radio, he explained that private institutions are reviewing their cost structures to be able to refine the percentage of adjustment of school registrations.

According to their estimates, these new rates would be specified in the last four months of the year. He pointed out that some campuses will maintain the cost of current schooling until the end of the year before applying adjustments, while evaluating the impact of inflation on the payment capacity of parents and representatives.

“We have to analyze our costs well, our cost structure and consider a very clear reality towards the country and towards our representatives,” Romeo said.

Romeo said that much of the school operating budget is used to pay social benefits, salaries and commitments.

«70% of the operating budget of any educational campus has work incidence, only labor: benefits, Social Security, 9% collaboration of the pension and social benefits. By projecting payments to 12 months, we must guarantee the protection of these funds because in the end they correspond to labor benefits that we must cover, such as vacations and liquidations, ”he said.

On June 19, the National Federation of Parent and Representative Societies (Fenasopadres) pointed out that 40% of the enrollment in private schools “present delinquency status in monthly payments,” according to a national study they carried out.

Natalia Reverón, Coordinator of Fenasopadres, Lara Chapter, told FE and Alegría Radio that family budgets currently do not cover expenses at this end of the school year, which translates into pending or expired monthly payments.

Fenasopadres attributes as a trigger for this situation to the current socioeconomic crisis that the country is going through.
