Father Luis Fernando Múnera Congote, SJ, who has a degree in Philosophy from the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, a Bachelor of Theology and a PhD in Philosophy from the Sèvres Center in Paris, was named Rector of the Javeriana University for a period of six years and will assume his position as of March 13 of the present year.

Father Múnera He has been dean of the Faculty of Political Science and International Relations, between September 2016 and December 2020; advisor to the academic vice-rector; and co-director of the University Planning Program on Peace and Reconciliation. He is an associate professor at the Javeriana Faculty of Philosophy, where he held the position of career director.
In the Javeriana section of Cali, he worked in the area of social formation and coordinated the Specialization in Ethics and Values, where he also worked as a professor of Ethics, Politics and Philosophy.

Between 2001 and 2003, he was executive director of the Program for Peace of the Society of Jesus in Colombia and has worked in the formation of the Jesuits in the country. In turn, he was part of the Javeriana Board of Regents, between August 2012 and November 2019.

Father Jorge Humberto Peláez Piedrahíta, SJ, who has been the Rector of Javeriana for the last 9 years, He will continue to hold the position until March 13, 2023, the date on which the act of possession of Father Múnera will take place.
