At his first Sunday mass after be prohibited by the Archdiocese of São Paulo from transmitting the rite on the internetFather Júlio Lancellotti said this Sunday (21) that the actions of Pastoral de Rua, which serves homeless people, are being victims of conspiracy.
“I don’t know what will happen in the next few weeks, because, just as we come together to say that we are brothers, many also come together to conspire against it. Just as we come together to pray together, others come together to conspire, to find ways to distill their hatred”, said the priest at the end of the mass, after listing a series of activities carried out by the pastoral.
“What is interesting is that those who attack do not know the history, they do not know everything that was experienced”, he added, in another part of his speech.
The religious man recalled the social actions developed at Centro Santa Dulce, Casa Santa Virgínia, and Casa Nossa Senhora das Mercês. “If you want to know what is being done, just visit the work. Just go to one of the houses”, he said.
“The bread that is made in the bakery, which is supported by everyone’s donations ─ and 2 thousand loaves of bread are made there, which are divided in many places and here too ─, none of this is paid for by the public authorities or by any other body. It is the good will of everyone”, he added.
Father Júlio once again defended discriminated groups, such as the homeless, the landless, indigenous people, black people, Palestinians, and women.
“Until the end, we will be with those who fight for the land, for indigenous peoples, for women, for black people, for all those who are discriminated against, for free Palestine. Even if in some moments we are diminished, shot and injured, even bruised and bleeding, we will love until the end”, he highlighted.
