A group of farmers threw several lemon bags in the Sullana-Tambogrande road, In front of two companies, as a measure of protest for the abrupt drop in the price of the product, which has left them in a total crisis.
According to the farmers of Daniel Escobar and Cieneguillo’s irrigation commissions, the price of the lemon ton is quoted in 370 soles, despite the fact that 800 soles paid them in previous campaigns.
According to farmers, last year’s drought caused problems with the quality of lemon, which does not meet the standards for export. For this reason, most citrus must be sold in the national market.
The protest concentrated at kilometer 1040 of the Sullana-Tambogrande road, in front of the company Limones Piuranos and Agromar Industrial, which they accuse of wanting to pay prices below their production costs.

“We have an absent agriculture minister, who does not call, who does not talk with the farmers, so we have taken this measure tired of the fruitless meetings that are with the different authorities. The prices they pay are not even to harvest. We want reasonable prices to pay so that the farmer can have a profitability and can continue fertilizing his fields, ”said leader Wilmer Marchena.
For his part, the president of the Hualtaco III Caserío commission, in Tambogrande, Marco Alzamora, informed that they only pay 10 soles for a jaba of export mango.
“It is an excessively low price, compared to the 200 soles of 2024. For an export mango jaba they pay us to S/ 10. In 2024, where there was a little shortage, they paid us 200 or 150 soles. We would be content to pay us at least 50 soles per jaba of 20 kilos of export mango, ”he said.
