Santo Domingo.– The Minister of the Interior and Police, Faride Raful, met with grocery store owners with whom he discussed the request they have for them to also make their operating hours more flexible and thus be open in Christmas until 4:00 in the morning, cwith the opening until January 3, 2025.
In the meeting with about 40 representatives of merchant organizations, Minister Raful suggested that they take advantage of the resolution that has been applied since 2022, which orders that grocery stores, grocery stores, cafeterias, car washes, mechanical parks, water parks and convenience stores liquor, operate until 12:00 midnight.
Regarding the issue, the official said that she will raise it at the meeting of the Joint Task Force to be held next Monday the 23rd.

At the meeting, after complaints of alleged abuses attributed to police and prosecutors, Minister Raful suggested that, starting next year, sectoral meetings be held to debate this issue and avoid arbitrariness.
The minister was accompanied by the legal consultant, Juan Antonio Ferrand; the director of the Directorate of Alcoholic Beverage Control (COBA), Fermín Domínguez, and the director of the Ministerial Cabinet, Tristán Carbuccia.
Antonio Cruz Roja, vice president of the National Council of Merchants and Entrepreneurs of the Dominican Republic (Conacerd), and Ricardo Rosario, president of the National Central of United Retailers (CNDU), among others, participated for the merchants.
