FARD acquires helicopters for border surveillance

FARD adquiere helicópteros para vigilancia en la frontera

LAS AMERICAS AIRPORT.- The Dominican Republic Air Force received two more BELL UH-1H HUEY II model helicopters, FAD3074 and FAD3075; of a fleet of six aircraft announced by the President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, last October for that military institution.

The aircraft were received by the Commander General of the Air Force of the Dominican Republic FARD, Major General Aviation Technician Carlos Febriller Rodriguez.

With the arrival of these two aircraft, there are four helicopters received by the military institution and only two more would be missing to complete the fleet of six aircraft. It was also said that the two missing will arrive in the country, in a period of 15 days.

The aircraft were transferred to national territory, from Texas, United States, stopping at nine different destinations, until landing last Thursday night at the San Isidro Air Base.

To receive the helicopters, a reception ceremony was held headed by the Commander General of the Dominican Republic Air Force, FARD, Febrillet Rodríguez, who congratulated the crew that brought the two aircraft to the country.

Likewise, the high military chief expressed his great satisfaction to the helicopter crew for the fulfillment of the mission of transporting the two aircraft to the Dominican Republic without incident.

“The airline family is here, receiving these aircraft, after several days of flight without incident, and I inform the entire Dominican Republic that these aircraft come to improve our operational readiness, as well as to save lives and protect our nation,” said Commander Febrillet Rodríguez.

After receiving the helicopters, thus culminating this mission, Major General Febrillet Rodríguez congratulated the crew, expressing his great satisfaction for the goal achieved. “The airline family is herereceiving these aircraft, after several days of flight without incident, and to the entire Dominican Republic I inform you that these aircraft come to improve our operational readiness, as well as to save lives and protect our nation, “he said.

Referring to the usefulness of the sophisticated devices, the FARD chief also stressed that these aircraft come prepared with a “Bambi Bucket” to put out fires, MEDEVAC, cranes, cargo hook, among other tools for rescuing people.

He explained that the transfer of the aircraft to the country was led by Colonel Pilot Richard Liriano Camilo, FARD and directed by Lt. Colonel Pilot Edward Martínez Bautista; Commander of the Rescue Squad.

Altuna Batista, FARD, Lieutenant Stalin José Sánchez Ruiz, FARD, and Sergeant Major Geldelson Duarte, FARD, who left Dallas- also participated. Texas, United States, towards the Dominican Republic.

In the reception ceremony, the General Commander of the FARD was accompanied by his wife, Eng. Mencía Ortiz de Febrillet, the Deputy Commander General of the FARD; Paratrooper Brigade General Mauricio Fernández García, the General Inspector of the FARD; Pilot Brigadier General Rafael Acosta Sena, Director of DECEFARD; Paratrooper Brigadier General Rafael Castellanos Dotel, Commander of the San Isidro Air Base; Paratrooper Colonel Víctor de Peña Paradas, among other special guests and members of the General Staff of this institution.

Like the two helicopters received last December, these aircraft will be used in missions related to national security, including border surveillance, as well as conducting rescue operations at high altitudes. In addition, operations in difficult terrain, on the high seas, medical evacuations, cases of natural disasters and all the operations for which these aircraft were prepared.
