Four Venezuelan citizens who had been kidnapped by dissidents from the 33rd Front of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) in the municipality of Tibú in mid-February were handed over to a commission from the Catholic Church.
“Thank God we witnessed the release, safe and sound, of four Venezuelan citizens, who had been kidnapped by FARC dissidents, it is a gesture of peace to allow them to return to freedom,” said the deacon of the diocese. from Tibú, Ricardo Fajardo.
According to the armed group, the kidnapped people had been responsible for irresponsible behaviors such as drug use and problems with the community in the area, directly from kilometer 25, on the road that connects Tibú with the village of La Gabarra.
The people released were identified as Gabriel Antonio Márquez Torres, Anderson Enrique Mercado Torres, Israel José Ramírez and Orlando Rincón, who are in good health after several days of being held by the armed group.
A similar event was recorded in December 2021 in the middle of an operation carried out by the Sijín of the Cúcuta Metropolitan Police, there, the authorities rescued four Venezuelans, including a woman and a minor under 17 years of age, who had been kidnapped by members of the Aragua Train.
Colonel Juan Carlos Ramírez explained that “initially ten Venezuelans had been kidnapped, coming from Chile, who tried to return to their country through one of the trails that connects Colombia with Venezuela, six of them fled, while the other four were deprived of his freedom for several hours.
