Military troops seized 969 kilograms of marijuana and detained 6 people during a operation carried out in the southeast of the Caribbean Seaspecifically 74 nautical miles from the Isla de Margarita, informed this Monday the operational strategic commander of the Bolivarian National Armed Force (FANB), Domingo Hernández Lárez.
Through his account on the social network Twitter, Hernández Lárez explained that the drug was distributed in 23 packages, and that the operation was carried out by soldiers from the FANB together with officials from the National Anti-drug Superintendency (Sunad).
With this joint operation, the authorities managed to dismantle a structured group of organized crime, made up of six people dedicated to illicit drug trafficking.
“For a country free of drugs”, stressed the Chief of Ceofanb in his message on Twitter.
FANB to the fight against drug trafficking
The head of the Ceofanb, Domingo Hernández Lárez, has reiterated that the FANB remains active in the different states of the country, scrutinizing the borders to avoid the drug trafficking in all its forms within the national territory.
In this regard, he stressed that with missions such as “Operation Lightning of Catatumbo 2023”, military personnel continue to dismantle organized gangs and expel “invading armed groups associated with drug trafficking that cross our borders to use the territory as a platform.”
Likewise, Hernánez Lárez confirmed that the members of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces remain deployed in the different states of the national territory, in the fight against drug trafficking groups Tancol; gangs dedicated to illegal mining, extortion, and illegal takeovers of strategic facilities.
“Venezuela is a territory of peace, law and justice. Armed groups that threaten social peace will not be tolerated,” she emphasized.
