The members of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (Fanb) have dealt a hard blow to drug trafficking, after seizing 316 marijuana wrappers with a gross weight of 227 kilograms, as well as 2 cocaine wrappers, weighing approximately 2 kilograms.
This procedure was achieved thanks to the patrolling and scrutinizing work in the Mata Negra sector, Temblador parish of the Libertador de Maturín municipality, Monagas state.
According to information issued by the Ministry of Interior Relations, Justice and Peace, through its social networks, the military personnel located, with the support of a trained dog, the first 133 packages hidden in a compartment of an Encava-type transport unit, specifically found in a spare tire that the vehicle was carrying.
Upon continuing the search, the officials found the remaining 183 wrappers of narcotic substances, in a hidden part inside the fuel tank, thus achieving the seizure of a total of 316 wrappers.
The arrest of two citizens accused of being those allegedly responsible for transporting said packages was also carried out. Both what was seized and the arrested persons were placed at the disposal of the Public Ministry.
These actions are part of the efforts made in the fight against illicit drug trafficking, complying with the instructions of President Nicolás Maduro and under the coordination of the Sectoral Vice President of Politics, Citizen Security and Peace, Diosdado Cabello.
