A Cessna 152 aircraft was destroyed in the municipality of Rómulo Gallegos in the state of Apure, after it was considered that it was being used for drug trafficking.
This was reported by General Domingo Hernández Lárez, Strategic Operational Commander of the FANB, on his account on the social network X.
According to the information, the aircraft was “camouflaged” in the south of Apure state and was not authorized, so it was considered hostile as it was presumed to be being used by groups linked to cross-border drug trafficking, transportation of irregular elements and weapons.
The aircraft “was adjacent to the “unauthorized runway AP-06 in the south of the state of Apure (…) covered by trees, next to a ranch-type roof camouflaged with the environment.”
When requesting information from the military and civil air services, the officials indicated that there was no authorization for said aircraft “in said municipality” nor the coordinates to operate in that area.
Given this fact, it was declared “HOSTILE” in accordance with the provisions of article ‘3’ of the Law of Control for the Comprehensive Defense of the Airspace of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.”
It was presumed that it was being “used by groups generating violence linked to the cross-border crime of drug trafficking, transport of irregular elements and weapons, ordering and materializing the neutralization of the same on land.”
In this regard, Hernández Lárez indicated that “the Venezuelan State will freely exercise territorial sovereignty in its airspace, supra-adjacent and ultra-terrestrial. Venezuela is a territory of peace, free and independent sovereign.”
