A marijuana plantation that covered 6 hectares of the Sierra de Perijá (Zulia) were destroyed by agents of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB).
Details of this procedure were exposed on Thursday by Major General Rubén Belzares Escobar, head of the Comprehensive Defense Operational Zone (Zodi) Zulia, who said that the planting was masked with bean cultivation.
Belzares Escobar also reported that they proceeded to destruction 1,500 kilos of processed marijuana and four seedlings from where they extract the narcotic referred. They also destroyed eight Tancol camps (armed terrorists, Colombian drug traffickers) with logistics capacity for the support of 90 troops.
Such a report was offered by Belzares Escobar upon receiving a television pass from the Minister for Defense, Vladimir Padrino López, who made a balance on the Bolivarian shield strategic operation on Thursday.
” In Venezuela there are no crops, nor is there processing, nor are there money laundering, there are no posters, ” said Padrino López who was at the Francisco de Miranda General Air Base from where he also gave the word to the major general Juan Ernesto Sulbarán Quintero, commander of the Strategic Region of Eastern Integral Defense (Redi), responsible for the Cumanagoto Operation 200.
In turn, Sulbarán Quintero said that the military and police forces are deployed in the 15 municipalities of the Sucre state through 60 rapid reaction units (URRA).
Among the fruits of that operation, Sulbarán Quintero highlighted the destruction of 14 logistics bases that were used for drug trafficking activities. He also referred to the retention of 12 vessels, 9 thousand liters of fuel and the confiscation of 12 firearms.
In addition, General Leonel Sojo Rada, commander of the Integral Defense Operational (Zodi) Amazonas and responsible for the operation of the Blist 200. Mounted on a boat that sailed the Orinoco, Sojo Rada reported that during the last 15 days they destroyed seven illegal mining camps located in the Yapacana National Park (Amazonas).
In that area they seized 23 thousand liters of gasoline, 6,800 liters of diesel, 4 motorcycles, 3,500 meters of hose, 145 water suction pumps, two 22 mm firearms, 800 meters of PVP pipes, 70 carpets used as sieve and the arrest of four subjects that practiced illegal mining.
At the end of the intervention of Sojo Rada, Padrino López commented that in Amazonas the presence of drugs in the Maroa sector have been detected. He stressed that the FANB is defending sovereignty in the Venezuelan Amazon preventing the installation of irregular groups such as the National Liberation Army (ELN). “I tell those groups that operate there: they also do not mistake with us; we are willing to defend our sovereignty … the one who is operating there, terrorists, drug traffickers, with Colombian origin, leaves the Venezuelan territory, this is not their soil,” the minister began.
