The development of Operation Fénix-2022 in Zulia produced as a preliminary result the dismantling of two camps built by drug trafficking groups, reported General Richard López, head of the National Anti-Drug Superintendence (Sunad).
Through his social networks, López reported that 18 laboratories for the production of cocaine were operating in those two camps.
In the aforementioned infrastructures, located in the Jesús María Semprún municipality, on the border with Colombia, the military seized 7,285 kilos of cocaine, ️6,238 liters of liquid chemicals, 4,320 kilos of solid chemicals and 2,250 kilos of base paste. The mayor of that municipality, Keyrinet Fernández, is in prison because she was allegedly part of the so-called narco-political network that transported caches from Zulia to Falcón, according to the Public Ministry.
In that municipality they also detected a crop with 108,000 coca plants, which were destroyed.
200 members of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (Fanb) participated in Operation Fénix-2022. “With this operation, 33,193.722 kilos of different drugs have been seized in 2022 (…). There are 4,276 procedures with 5,266 detainees linked to illicit drug trafficking in Venezuela,” said López Vargas.
Tracks. In another procedure, the Bolivarian National Guard (GNB) detected and destroyed four unauthorized landing strips in Portuguesa, according to military sources.
The illegal airfields were located in Payara, Pimpinela and Caño Seco, Páez municipality, Portuguesa state. The runways measured an average of 900 meters long by 10 meters wide.
The proceedings were notified to the Prosecutor’s Office.
