Members of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) dismantled a camp of mining illegal and captured a subject with two kilograms nine hundred and seventy-five grams (2,975 Kgs) of Liquid Mercury, a highly polluting agent of the ecosystem in the vicinity of the National Park yapacanalocated in the state of Amazonas.
This was reported by the head of the FANB Strategic Operational Command (Ceofanb), Domingo Hernández Lárez through his Twitter account, where he specified that the citizen was identified as Wilfredo Alexander Yarumare Esteves. Likewise, he indicated that in addition to liquid mercury, a series of materials and equipment used for the practice of illegal mining were seized.
“This subject is widely linked to criminal groups from Inírida-Colombia, which support the entry of dangerous polluting materials, as well as the supply of logistic structures for the work of destruction and contamination of the environment through Illegal Mining on the ground. Venezuelan”, added Hernández Lárez.
In the vicinity of the National Park yapacanain a State security zone, #FANB dismantles an illegal mining camp and apprehends one (01) subject identified as: Wilfredo Alexander Yarumare Esteves, CI V-28.646.560, from whom two kilograms, nine hundred and seventy-five grams were seized (2,975 Kgs) of Liquid Mercury (highly polluting agent of the environmental biome, published the head of Ceofanb.
Among other logistical materials, a portable radio transmitter was also seized; a metal boat with a 75 Hp outboard motor; and 292,000 effective Colombian pesos in bills of various denominations.
FANB will destroy all illegal mining structures
The head of Ceofanb reiterated, after the dismantling of another illegal mining camp, that the FANB will not allow the installation of structures that serve to destroy ecosystems and biodiversity.
He recalled that the FANB faithfully complies with the legal regulations established to protect and safeguard the country’s environmental reserves.
“The FANB will destroy the structures of criminal groups that disrespect the Venezuelan territorial legal system,” he said.
“In the Venezuelan National Parks and Hydrographic Basins there may not be any type of rafts or contraptions of predation and mining extraction, they constitute polluting agents of the environment, water poisoning, destruction of biodiversity (fish and plants) and sedimentation, causing irreversible apocalyptic damage. #FANB it will destroy the structures of criminal groups that disrespect the Venezuelan territorial legal system,” the Chief of Ceofanb indicated on the social network.
Deployment continues in Amazonas and Bolívar
The FANB will continue to be deployed throughout the Amazonas and Bolívar states to enforce territorial ordering, given the continuous findings of structures used to depredate the environment and of irregular groups that practice illegal mining.
With this measure, the “5th Strategic Objective of the nation is fulfilled, such as the preservation of life on the planet, and guaranteeing national sovereignty,” added the Chief of Ceofanb.
“In compliance with the 5th Strategic Objective of the nation, such as the preservation of life on the planet, and guaranteeing national sovereignty embodied in the CRBV as a duty and right in the protection of the environment, #FANB operationalizes security and defense plans and is deployed in Bolívar and Amazonas states, carrying out work to dismantle illegal mining camps and environmental destruction, which arbitrarily disrespect territorial ordering,” said Hernández Lárez.
