In a routine surveillance and patrol operation, members of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB), assigned to the Bolivarian National Guard Zone Command (CZGNB-62) of the Bolívar state, captured an alleged member of a structured organized crime (GEDO) group identified as “El Jorman”.
The detention of the subject was carried out in the southern state, where the authorities also seized an F-350 load truck that transported a considerable amount of equipment for artisanal mining.
After the procedure, several materials for mining activity were seized, among which are 70 meters of two -inch discharge hose, eight meters of four -inch hose, three six -inch turbines and two 12 hp engines.
An electric generator and a lot of tools were also confiscated, including a percussion hammer, chumaceras, shovels, peaks, in addition to 20 meters of black waxed plastic and an artisanal bat.
According to the report of the intelligence bodies, “El Jorman” is indicated as responsible for extorting and collecting “vaccines” to small miners and mining alliances established in the Sucre municipality, an area with strong mining activity in the region. Likewise, it is reported that the criminal actions of this organization affect artisanal operations that are a fundamental part of the local economy.
After the military operation, the case was put to the order of the Public Ministry (MP), an institution responsible for carrying out the corresponding legal investigations and procedures, while the FANB continues patrol work to combat illegal activities in the area.
This operation represents a new coup to the organized criminal structures dedicated to illegal mining and extortion in the Bolívar state, reinforcing the commitment of the authorities to maintain order and legality in that region, repeated by the head of the FANB Operational Strategic Command, Domingo Hernández Lárez.
