The strategic operational commander of the National Armed Forces, Domingo Hernández Lárez, reported that members of the National Guard intercepted and disabled an aircraft in the state of Apure, which entered the country “furtively” from Caribbean islands.
Through his Instagram account, Hernández Lárez detailed that a Cessna 301 light plane, acronym XBRED, deployed from the “Caribbean islands” and entered Venezuelan territory with the transponder turned off and suppressed communications.
The military chief assured that the plane was detected by radars and declared a “target of interest”, so they proceeded to intercept it. The Cessna plane headed to the state of Apure and landed on an “unauthorized border runway” in the Rómulo Gallegos municipality, where it became immobilized and disabled.

Last week, the National Armed Forces disabled three aircraft that they linked to drug trafficking in two areas near Colombia, military authorities reported at the time.
Two of the planes were disabled in the Rómulo Gallegos municipality and the other in the Autana municipality, in the state of Amazonas, both bordering Colombia, indicated the commander of Comprehensive Aerospace Defense, José Luis Tremont.
