The Venezuelan army has averaged three plane shoot-downs per month so far this year, but the FAN shares few details about the origin and destination of these planes or the people involved in these operations.
The head of the Strategic Operational Command of the National Armed Forces (Ceofan), G/J Domingo Hernandez Larezreported during the night of this Friday, October 28, that an aircraft that illegally entered Venezuelan territory was neutralized.
According to the military, it was an aircraft used to traffic drugs, for which he stated that Venezuela would not tolerate any more “drug trafficking aerial incursions into our territory.” On this occasion, he did not specify in which town the demolition occurred.

Hernández Lárez explained that, with this demolition, 32 aircraft have been neutralized for entering Venezuelan air territory without authorization, presumably with the intention of carrying out drug trafficking activities.

In other words, the FAN has neutralized at least three planes per month so far this year, although little data is offered on the routes of these flights or the people involved in the alleged drug trafficking schemes.
The little information that is available in this regard is controlled by the Government and offered in official speeches. This was the case of the balance of Operation Bolivarian Shield 2022, promoted by Nicolás Maduro at the beginning of July, when he stated that the Venezuelan army had dismantled at least 200 irregular camps in the country.
Of these irregular structures, most correspond to camps dedicated to the manufacture of homemade explosives and bombs, others to logistics and only 23 were used for drug processing.
