So far this year, the National Armed Forces (FAN) has destroyed 60 clandestine airstrips during the execution of the Bolivarian Shield Operation Catatumbo Lightning 2023, as reported by the head of Ceofan, Domingo Hernández Lárez.

The military is in charge of operations, mainly in the border and coastal states, against drug trafficking, which include the destruction of planes carrying illicit substances and the disabling of clandestine airstrips.
Last Tuesday April 4 Hernandez Larez reported that so far this year the National Armed Forces have destroyed 60 clandestine airstrips during the execution of Operation Bolivarian Shield Lightning of Catatumbo 2023.
From the beginning of 2023 until March 14, the authorities seized 21,595 kilos of drugs, which represented “an increase of 114.83%” compared to the same period in 2022, said the Minister of Interior, Remigio Ceballos.
The more than 21 tons of drugs were seized in a total of 2,244 procedures, with 2,956 detainees.
