General in Chief Domingo Hernández Lárez, operational strategic commander of the National Armed Forces (FAN), reported on Tuesday the 17th on the arrest of five people linked to two criminal organizations dedicated to illegal mining, robbery and extortion in Bolívar state.
The official indicated, in a first message on his Twitter account, on the arrest of three people linked to the so-called “Guayana Train”. In the operation, 59 “high explosive” packages, 11 rolls of detonating cord and 11 electric detonators were seized.
Hernández Lárez pointed out that these people engaged in illegal mining, kidnapping, extortion and robbery. In December, the Armed Forces notified at least two operations in which structures and illegal camps of the “Tren de Guayana” within the Canaima National Park, in addition to the arrest of three men linked to the criminal group.

The “Guyana Train”, according to data provided by the military, would also be involved in the crimes of drug trafficking and human trafficking, while forcing the local population for their criminal purposes.
In another message, the head of Ceofan reported the arrest of two members of the armed group calling itself “The Organization”, who were wearing uniforms and war material.
