The Mayor of Canelones filed a complaint with the Prosecutor’s Office against the nationalist deputy Alfonso Lereté for assaulting an official of the communereported sources from the Prosecutor’s Office to The Observer.

The complaint, for apparently criminal acts, was filed this Friday afternoon by an official representing the commune who recounted his version of what happened on June 29 in which the legislator included insults and blows by the legislator.

This is added to a series of complaints made around the altercation. Both the woman and the legislator filed cross complaints for aggression in the Prosecutor’s Office, but the case is also within the orbit of the Specialized Family Court, since the woman’s complaint is included in a case of gender violence. Therefore, it is resolved in parallel processes.

The family judge Soledad Nin issued precautionary measures against Lereté, which imply a prohibition of approaching less than 500 meters from the official and is prevented from communicating with her for 180 days.reported MVD Noticias and confirmed The Observer with case sources. In addition, a hearing was set for next Monday at 2:00 p.m.

For the criminal complaints, the Prosecutor’s Office will summon all those involved and witnesses in the next few hours. The prosecutor in the case, Eliana Travers, ordered expertise and a review of the security camera record to see if they captured the episode.

the altercation

The public hearing for the litigation between the Municipality of Canelones and the Parque del Plata Sports Club for irregularities in the institution ended in a crossing between the nationalist deputy Alfonso Lereté and two hierarchs of the Canarian commune, Pedro Irigoin and Ruben Moreno, as well as the former deputy Carlos Reutor and the official of the administration.

In the versions of both sides, the conflict began once the official made a “correction of order” or blurted out “a phrase of verbal aggression” (according to Lereté) and the nationalist deputy responded. From the commune they told The Observer that the deputy insulted and pushed the woman. According to Lereté, she only told him: “please, calm down.”

Irigoin, coordinator of the Institutional Cabinet, said that Lereté “true to his style” made several provocations during the hearing, although until the climax, there had been nothing more than “crossovers, high tones; not even insults.” The official is not political.

According to Irigoin, the deputy was speaking to other people when the woman, who was close to Lereté, made a “correction of order.” “He insults her and pushes her,” said the hierarch, and that was “when the uproar broke out.”

“What Irigoin said is false”, assured the legislator The Observer. At the end of the hearing, a neighbor was accusing the legislator of having prejudiced him in a decision of a club that he presides over. Lereté then opened his arms. “It seems that he was the devil. I am to blame for everything,” he exclaimed. The official then blurted out “a phrase of verbal aggression.” He opened his hands at the level of her abdomen and told her “please, calm down”.

From that moment on, the directors and the former deputy of the Popular Participation Movement (MPP) approached. He was first verbally assaulted and then hit by Irigoin. “He hit me in the face with his hand,” Lereté said.
