Families who went to the Instituto Médico-Legal, in the center of Rio de Janeiro, to recognize the bodies of people killed in Operation Containment, carried out on Tuesday (28), are going through a registration process this Wednesday (29), at the State Department of Traffic (Detran-RJ), which is next to the morgue.
In addition to the 64 deaths officially reported in the state report released yesterday, at least another 70 bodies were rescued this morning from forested areas in Complexo da Penha, one of the areas where the civil and military police operation took place against the criminal faction Comando Vermelho.
With signs of execution, such as shots in the forehead and decapitation, the bodies found during the early hours of the morning were concentrated in Praça São Lucas, in the favela complex, from the beginning of this morning, and then sent to the IML.
There is no forecast for the release of the bodies this Wednesday, and registered family members are waiting at the scene. THE Brazil Agencya relative of another dead person who asked not to be identified criticized the way the bodies were found.

“They left the body there, naked. Not even animals are treated like that, no matter what the person did,” he declared. “They made a mess and left it there anyway.”
“It’s very difficult to find the person we love like this”, said the family member, who came from Cabo Frio, in the Lakes Region of Rio de Janeiro, to do the reconnaissance.

Another woman, who identified herself as “Carol Malícia”, 24 years old, told Brazil Agency who came from Arraial do Cabo, also in the Lagos Region, to recognize the father of her 1 year and 3 month old daughter, identified only as Vitor.
She said she was in contact with him until Tuesday, when he said he was trapped and didn’t know if he would “endure it for long.” Vitor also said that there were many people shot by bullets next to him, but he did not say where he was.
After this report, Carol lost communication with Vitor, who was later found with signs of bullets in his leg and foot.
